WHAT IS MASS FLUX?
Contaminant mass flux is defined as the measurement of the concentration and flow of contaminants from a source area, represented as mass per unit area per unit time (for example mg/m2/day).
Over the last few years, mass flux measurement has emerged as a robust alternative to the traditional “grab sample” concentration measurement approach used to assess contaminants at a site. With a thorough mass flux analysis consultants can design targeted remediation solutions, which in turn reduces the cost of remediation, allowing for the remediation of additional sites.
